. . .that make your iPhone/iPod Touch feel more like a computer.
When you really look at it. . .what you have is a computer. . .not a phone or an ipod. Continued below is the top 5(IMO) applications that make your device look and/or feel more like a fully featured computer.
#5 - MobileCast
Yes you can get your audio/video podcasts to sync to your iPhone/iPod Touch. . .but what happens if you’re away from your computer.
#4 - Apollo
I am still unsure why a native IM client wasn’t included in the OS, but it sure didn’t take long. This was one of the first full 3rd party application for the iPhone/iPod Touch
#3 - Term-v100
Whether you want your command line on your device. . .or you want to SSH into your device. Term-v100 will allow you to type directly on your device. OpenSSH will allow you to SSH into your device from another computer.
#2 - MobileRSS
And with the update to version 2.0 this is now a heavy duty RSS reader. Keep track of all(or at least the best) RSS feeds you subscribe to.
#1 - Summerboard Themes
Face it, without themes your iPhone/iPod Touch just seems too plain. I will admit a lot of the themes aren’t the best in the world. . .but there are a few that really stand out.
When I first jailbroke my iPod Touch I did it step by step with ‘planetbeing’(this was before it was all put into 1 website). By jailbreaking the device this way I was able to really see it for what it is. . .just a simple 600mhz PC Mac.
Bonus - Books
What is a computer without an eBook reader? I prefer audio books. . .but for those who love to read(and haven’t picked up an Amazon Kindle yet). . .here is another utility for the computer in your pocket.
What are some of the 3rd party applications that you use a lot?
