Warning - If you like any 3rd party applications or themes that you have gotten from Installer(or Cydia), they will be ‘deactivated’ if you update to the 2.0 firmware. Some applications are listed in the App Store now. . .but until the hackers get a chance to get into the code. . .we have to wait.

I hear there is something like 500+ applications available via the App Store. . .and over 125 are free. Now I also hear that a lot of those free applications aren’t very exciting(but I haven’t checked for myself).

Stay updated here at InstallerApps.com and I will post any information about jailbreaking the new firmware when I get it.

Wait, do I have to have firmware 2.0 to use these apps? Then why are they advertising them if I can’t even download the update?

Yes, you need the 2.0 firmware to use the App Store.You can download the update. . .Apple just isn’t ‘pushing’ it from iTunes just yet.

I hear you need iTunes 7.7 as well.

I’ve looked at a lot of the apps online, and the only ones that seem even remotely interesting to me are the games. All of the other ones are downloadable from installer or have a decent equivalent.

@t3ckno. . .I just reviewed the game Neverball. . .which is a great clone of Super Monkey Ball.

I think that will be the best thing Installer has going for it. . .

so whats the deal with this new firmware, can i update my iphone and then jailbreak/unlock it as usual? even if i cant get the 3rd party apps i still wanna see what it is like, and have a look at all the new stuff. CAN I JAILBREAK MY 2.0?

@Jay, you can. . .just not now. and I hear if you update, you have to go through a long and difficult process to downgrade(itunes 7.7 doesn’t let you downgrade).

but yes, eventually you will be able to both jailbreak and unlock 2.0. it’s already been done. . .just hasn’t been released yet

what i really want from the app store is a theme app. i want to customize my home screen to whatever i want. didnt apple team up with the creaters of installer app or something?

@Cher, me too! and with all of the available summerboard themes already it would be easy to port them over
