You need not to be on 2.0. DFU mode is something that itunes wont recongnise your firmware and allows install any version on your iphone. 
Connect your iphone to itunes. Power off the iphone. Press Home+Sleep for 7 Sec, and release sleep button but continue holding home button. 
i Tunes will show your iphone (in system tray messages as "iphone in DFU mode") Thats it. 
look into itunes, you see restore button.  Press shift+Restore button and then give custom iPSw file location to your computer. You are done. 

Caution: you need to run iPwn before  you do all those above steps.</description>
