Note - I will be keeping a list of all compatible Installer 4 Sources on our sources page.
3 of the biggest repositories for jailbroken iPhones and iPod Touches have released their Installer 4 Sources. The RiP Dev source is already in Installer so you don’t have to add it. . .but you can go ahead and add the Big Boss and iSpazio sources.

HELP!! WHEN I DOWNLOAD THE SOURCES YOU ADDED I KEEP GETTING A FILE DOESN’T EXIST ERROR OVER AND OVER AGAIN!! IS THIS JUST A BUG OR IS MY PHONE SCREWED!!

@chris, it’s just a bug. close it and open it again. then the error will go away

UPDATE: WHEN YOU GO INTO THE “ALL PACKAGES” FILE IT SAYS “FILE DOESN’T EXIST OVER AND OVER UNTIL YOU GO BACK OUT”.. DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO FIX THIS?

I CLOSED IT THEN WENT BACK IN AND THE SAME THING HAPPENS. INSTALLER EVEN ENDED UP CRASHING THE SECOND TIME..

I WOULDN’T RECOMMEND DOWNLOADING INSTALLER!! VERY BUGGY AND YOU CAN’T EVEN INSTALL PACKAGES BECAUSE OF ERROR MESSAGES

Installing packages works for me. I have tested this with airhorn and wifi toggle. both of which install correctly and work

For anyone using installer 4 (and who also has used Cydia) does it have all the same apps available?
Is it faster? Laggier? Can you outline the pros and cons of each?

It seems like it has to do with “Community Sources”. When I removed that it stopped the error.

Cydia is the best choice(right now), but that is only because Installer has bugs. This will be fixed and Installer will triumph yet again :p
@Jen, it has to do with the packages listed. Like if a package doesn’t have an icon image, it gives that error and uses the default image for the repository(which is why you get a bunch of them when you list a bunch of packages)
this error shows how much work the repository owners have to do to get their sources working with the new installer(the format is MUCH different than the old installer)

Why is me typing in caps offending people? I mean seriously do you have that much time on your hands to actually write a message in this forum just to talk about how writing in caps is rude or it means im yelling? Lets use these forums to help people with problems NOT to talk about capitalized letters..

can’t we all just get along? I am having the same issue with installer but if you remove the big boss source it stops. im guessing there is something wrong with big bosses source but it works fine on cydia. any fixes please let me know

@boss, it’s an issue with his source. when he fixes the source, the error will quit happening
sadly bigboss is pro-cydia. so i imagine he’s not in any hurry to fix it

thats too bad i really like his apps. will having both cydia and installer on your phone make it slow or have problems? also it seems like installer and cydia have the same apps so it there any need to have both?

I think there will end up being different apps on both. For now I think it’s easy to get the big repository owners to host both installer and cydia. . .but i think as time goes on it will change(who knows which side will ‘win’)
but for now all the applications are on both cydia and installer.

la pasciencia es la madre de toooodas las ciencias.. nomas aguantence un ratito y todos contentos, lo que SI en verdad es IMPERDONABLE es el hecho que las fuentes anteriores no sean compatibles, o sea que Pedo, como crees que si haz dedicado tiempo en programas las fuentes, te manden por un tubo y te digan, sabes que la mera neta vamos acambiar de codigo y pues tienes que rehacer o reestructurar tu listado de fuentes. eso si caga…

I’m not really sure what I am doing, but I am about to install what is required/needed. I’m not that computer savy, so please bare with me. I’ve read all of your comments. My biggest thing is ringtones and how you transfer them to the iPhone. They are in my iPod, but won’t transfer to my ringtones and I am trying to figure out why.

i myself while reading it think that you are yelling… my inner voice is reading at a content sound whilst not capitalized
but when THE SENTENCES ARE LIKE THIS MY INNER VOICE IS SCREAMING!
So why not type with out caps? not that hard just press the [Caps Lock] button =P

i repwned to make that installer work after it kept downloading packages without installing then well installer is still in beta nd too bugy but devalopers just creat repos for installer nd none new for cydia :(( just lets use one app. guys lol

sources can be added via the ‘manage’ tab and then the ’sources’ button.
One can then add a source by clicking ‘edit’ then ‘add’.

I recently jailbroke my iphone 3G, but I wasn’t sure if I should have gotten the Cydia App on the phone. All I have is the installer 4 beta version.
is there a way to install cydia on the phone?

Hello, I just downloaded Installer 4.0 everything works fine but now I can’t dial any phone numbers, the phone keypad doesn’t respond in phone mode. I can receive calls and send txt I just can’t dial out. Anyone got any ideas….

I had the same problem with my 3g as well, it went away as soon as I uninstalled “Kate” out of my phone. That software is nothing but trouble I tell ya!!

I finished jailbreaking, activating and unlocking an old 1.0.2, 3.9BL iphone using the Quickpwn 2.0.1, installing Cydia and Installer, loading up all the Sources for both Cydia and Installer and the phone looks as good as NEW! I am proud of what I had finished. One thing though, if some one could help me - the apple logo has become a pineapple logo when i boot the phone. Anyone who can tell me how I can replace this with the original apple logo? Please give me detailed version as I am just a naive user(graphical tips only welcome). Thanks!

irisha on quikepwn you can change the boot logo to the pinapple but you cant change it if you were to change it you would have to re jailbreak

Hi,
I’m using beta 6 but everytime I click on any app to download it, Installer quits and returns me to Springboard. The directory and file permissions are 777 recursively.
Can anyone help me?
