Chronus is a successor of TimeCapsule for firmware 2.x. Chronus backs up and restores settings of applications on your iPhone or iPod Touch.

Chronus brings TimeCapsule (Backup and restore utility for firmware 1.1.x) to firmware 2.x for either the iPhone or iPod Touch with support for backing up App Store apps, along with Cydia apps. Backup files are stored in /var/mobile/Library/Preferences/TimeCapsule. You can also email backup files, this requires another app (attachments= for mailto:) which will be installed with Chronus if you do not already have it.

There are only a few negative things to say about Chronus. It is free, but limited. The basic version is advertisement supported, can only allow one backup per app, and cannot backup all apps at once. The paid version, $7.99 USD, removes the ads and grants you the aforementioned features.

This is a particularly handy tool when new firmware starts to roll out and of course we don’t want to spend hours restoring our app’s settings so I suggest you start making your backups!
