I totally agree Dave.

The touch screen interface is a dual edge sword though. While it’s easy to replicate, it also creates a bunch of competition(like the Palm Pre). But the real competitors will be the ones that think outside the box, and not just re-create the same UI(as you mentioned with Microsoft).

Tell me about it. This years CTIA has been showing off nothing but cell phones with touch screens. Before the iPhone the closest thing to a touch screen were phones that used a stylus.

Also, look at what Microsoft is doing with it’s touch screen OS. It has icons arranged in a hexagonal grid. Yep, they came up with that idea all on their own.

Now there are 3 or 4 companies getting ready to start up their own application stores. Windows Mobile and Palm have had places to buy/download software for their respective OS’s for years. Now all of a sudden, they have to have AppStores?

Clearly, Apple has made a huge impact.
