How is your iPhone 3.0 performance?

June 22, 09 by Daniel

Lately it seems my iPhone 3G on jailbroken 3.0 firmware is pretty slow and laggy. Apps, App Store or Cydia apps run fine. But using official Apple applications seem to bug and lag a lot for me. Even going through the settings app feels sluggish. How has 3.0 been treating you, good, bad? Sound off in the comments with your experience.

Pretty slow and sucky, and battery life seems pretty bad. Cydia crashes when going to BigBoss repository comments and trying to add a comment and clicking on the comment section.

Actually, mine is working better than ever!! I just jailbrake it yesterday, though.

Right now, I only have installed Winterboard, Five Icon Dock (with the iSpazio DockFlow theme), OpenSSH, AppSync (the new mobileInstallation patch for 3.0), Installous and a number of cracked AppStore apps, and free AppStore apps.

slow as hell, and also noticed battery life getting shorter.
launches a bit slower, but it takes around 2/3 seconds to quit apps.

    iphone 2g:
Original OS 3.0 the larger battery, better performance on safari, mail, settings… than 2.2
Jailbroken OS 3.0 consumes more battery, and increase the time to open settings, safari mail… With the same free apps (skype, facebook, and some games) the performance is slower.

I will go back to 3.0 without jailbreak.

Turning off Push Notifications seems to make a big difference on my Jailbroken 2G. I can no longer use the battery indicator as a countdown timer :)

I’ve got the same problem with big bosses repo crashing cydia and cydia is just really unstable. The wifi is a little worse but everything else seems just fine. O and whenever I double tap home to change the song I can’t change the volume all it says where the volume use To be is “dock connector”. I’m on a 1st gen iPod touch (jailbroken)

Mine is muuuuuch better than before!
Since I’m using OS 3.0 my iPhone runs like hell!
I can not believe that the 3Gs will be much faster than my 3G right now!

One thing, which I think is necessary, is that you disable PUSH Mail.
There are 2 settings, which you have to set to “manual”!

I”m getting the same affect, very slow applications and lots of lag?

What did you guys jailbreak it with?
Redsn0w or Pwnage Tools? I did it with Redsn0w, could it be because of that?

Cydia seems to run fine though.

Yea mine is extremely sluggish. It is so frustrating. Loads and closes apps very very slowly.

I have an Iphone 1st Gen and I installed 3.0 using Pwngtool.

It seems that others are having the same problem.

I recall a similar thing with one of the early 2.2 firmware which was latter fixed somehow. I want to downgrade but I’m too lazy

When your iPhone 3G slowed down considerably after upgrading to 3.0, restore and REJAILBREAK with redsn0w 0.7.2 or higher, make sure you do not select ICY to be installed, this causes problems on the 3G’s. Also make sure you do the restore and jailbreak on the same platform (so all on Windows or MAC) for the best results.

This works 99 times out of 100!

I have a iPhone 3G 3.0 pwnagetool jailbreak – mail, calendar and contacts on manual. Wi-Fi turned on on demand via SBSettings. I mainly use the jailbreak for Open SSH. Other than that I have a whole host of cheap/free games, maps and stuff from App Store.

I get 3 days standby from 6-8 hours data use (I don’t use it as a phone). I used to get <10hr standby with <1hr use on 2.x.

Apps load and perform abot as well as they did on 2.x without the jailbreak.

    i couldn’t be happier.
