Early this morning the Dev Team released redsn0w. Unlike previous iterations of redsn0w, it only could jailbreak iPod Touch 2G. The Dev Team has combined the functionality of QuickPwn into redsn0w and it works on the iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G, iPod Touch 1G, and iPod Touch 2G. It does not jailbreak iPhone 3GS, nor does it include ultrasn0w (the upcoming iPhone 3G 3.0 unlock).
Head over to the Dev Teams site to download redsn0w (Windows or OS X), and let the jailbreaking begin.
Not long ago the Dev Team posted their latest installment of PwnageTool with compatibility for iPhone OS 3.0. There are a few niches though.
Ultrasn0w (the new iPhone 3G unlock) is not out yet. Do not upgrade if you rely on the unlock for service.
iPhone 3G users that don’t need an unlock can upgrade and jailbreak without issue.
iPhone 2G users can upgrade and unlock perfectly.
iPod Touch 1st Gen can be jailbroken on 3.0.
iPod Touch 2nd Gen can NOT be jailbroken on 3.0 yet.
And most of all, PwnageTool 3.0 does NOT work on the iPhone 3GS.
As of right now PwnageTool is only available for the Mac, QuickPwn is not yet updated to support 3.0. But if you get a custom firmware of 3.0, you could use that and upgrade just fine.
The title says it all, iPhone 3GS is on sale today at Apple stores and AT&T stores. When a jailbreak and possible unlock is released we’ll let you know right here.
Today iPhone OS 3.0 is being released for all users. Free for iPhone 2G and iPhone 3G, $9.95 for iPod Touch. Let’s recap on all the features you’ll expect to see but remember do NOT upgrade to iPhone OS 3.0 yet until a proper jailbreak is released or risk being unable to jailbreak and unlock in the future.
