Jailbreak your iPhone 3GS with Purplera1n

George Hotz, better known as Geohot has released a jailbreak for the iPhone 3GS known as purplera1n. It’s a very simple, yet rough, beta software and only for Windows right now. We’ve got a guide right here if you’re daring to try it, but I’d wait till a Dev Team release.

Step 1
Download Purplera1n from here. Windows only for right now.

Step 2
Connect your iPhone and have the latest version of iTunes installed and running.

Step 3
Run purplera1n and click make it ra1n.

Step 4
Let it run it’s automated course

Step 5
Once the iPhone has finished rebooting, you’ll find a new app named Freeze. Run this and press Install Cydia and let it run it’s course. If you don’t have Cydia on the SpringBoard after it’s done reboot your phone and reinstall Cydia.

Step 6
Enjoy your iPhone 3GS jailbroken. Be aware not all apps work, one most notably is WinterBoard is reported to not work with it as of yet.
