I just watched this video and can’t stop laughing. It’s a cartoon that was released on College Humor. I’m not sure if they made it, had it made, or was submitted by a reader, but it is hilarious. It’s called, Cell Phone Reunion. . .
I have a freelance programmer building a new website. This is going to be a major website and as soon as it’s launched it will hit the ground running. The website will mirror the data in the iTunes App Store and will track things like newly released apps, updated apps, and apps on sale. It will also have the top apps lists(both free and paid), and a few other features. It will be a way for you to check the most recent activity in the App Store without having to load up iTunes itself. I am aware that there are some other sites similar to this, but I have plans for specific features to make this website outperform the rest.
Update – The iPhone Dev Team has released a quick update to The Pwnage Tool and QuickPwn to jailbreak the 2.2.1 iPhone and 2.2.1 iPhone 3G. The best part is that they released both the Mac and Windows versions at the same time.
The jailbreak process is the same as before, and you can find a video of this process here.
So today Apple announced and released an firmware update for the iPhone 2G and iPhone 3G. I know what you’re asking. . .’is it jailbreakable?’ There hasn’t been any word from the iPhone Dev team except ‘we are looking into it’. The update improves stability with MobileSafari and also fixed something with the Camera Roll. . .nothing major.
Stay updated and I will make sure you know as soon as a jailbreak is released.
If so, then I invite you to submit your ideas to this new website.
Every now and then I get an idea for an iPhone app that I would love to see in the App Store. Applications that I would be happy to pay for simply because it would make my life so much easier. Sadly I’m not an iPhone developer so I would have no way of making it myself.
So this is a website that I’ve been working on for about a week and now I have everything setup for an official launch. The website is. . .
MuscleNerd, from the Dev Team, demoed the iPod Touch 2nd gen jailbreak recently and the video is available on Qik. He takes us through a guide of what the jailbreak is (for those who are unsure), and shows us the jailbreak in it’s current state. It’s a good video if you want to show your friends who have a second gen iPod Touch and are uneasy about the jailbreak. Go check it out!
Jailbird is a new ‘pwnage’ tool in development by the Dev Team. It serves to be a replacement for WinPwn, which is great for Windows users because WinPwn has not been updated in ages. Just like the Mac Pwnage tool, Jailbird will do all the same things like jailbreak your iPhone, iPhone 3G, and iPod Touch, along with activate/unlock both iPhones by building custom ISPW (firmware) files. The initial release is scheduled for some time in February.
The iPhone Dev Team has just posted a hint at a jailbreak for the 2g iPod Touch. They will be calling this redsn0w(redsn0w.com) and ’should’ be released soon. Even the previous ‘hacking team’ that were expected to jailbreak the 2nd generation iPod Touch(Chronic Dev Team) confirms that redsn0w will be the first jailbreak available.
I assumed the iPhone Dev Team dropped the responsibility of releasing this just so they could concentrate on the unlock(and not get flooded with emails for the ipod jailbreak).
So far there is no ETA on when it will be released, but this announcement has to mean that they found a way in, and now they just need to package it up and do some beta testing.
The Dev Team has released their 3G unlock today, and it’s available to people on the 2.28 baseband (firmware 2.2).
The unlock works exclusively with baseband 02.28.00. This baseband is provided by the latest firmware update (2.2) from Apple. You’ll need to upgrade to this release using iTunes and then use QuickPwn to activate etc. There are plenty of tutorials about this on iclarified, bigboss, and other established tutorial sites. Because it works on 02.28.00, it is available to everyone on the planet. This means we don’t need to unnecessarily expose holes in earlier basebands, which is an important concern.
Information on where to get this unlock and other important bits of information can be found on there blog here.
Note – The image above is the Kensington Mini Battery Extender and Charger, but what it’s linked to is not the that brand/model. It is an off-brand, but it’s cheaper and does the same thing. The link takes you to the place that I purchased mine from(and will be reviewing soon). Sorry for the confusion.
This is the Mini Battery Extender and Charger for iPhone and iPod Touch(it also comes in white). I actually just purchased one of these, but I am still waiting for it to be delivered. The battery to my iPhone rarely runs out but when it does I always seem to be annoyed having to locate the usb cable and keeping it plugged into the laptop/wall until it’s fully charged.
This is something that I wouldn’t mind throwing in the laptop back or even in my back pocket/cargo pocket before leaving the house. Sadly I the lighter socket in my car doesn’t work so I never get a chance to recharge while I’m driving.
I have heard a lot things about the Mini Battery Extenders. Does anyone here have any personal experience? I will be sure to do a full review when I get mine in.
Note – I have also heard some great things about the Mophie Juice Pack, even though it does costs 100 bucks.
The iPhone Dev Team just gave a speech(with slideshow) at the ‘25th Chaos Communication Congress’ with a complete breakdown of hacking and unlocking the iPhone. It is long(just under 60 minutes), but it is very interesting if you’re even remotely interested in the work the iPhone Dev Team does day after day.
Note – It’s amazing that such a ‘team’ could be brought together from all around the world. And it’s nice that they actually got to meet each other(a lot even for the first time ever) at this convention.
